草原作物及植物廣泛被應用於牧草牧原、草坪、地被覆蓋、水土保持、荒廢地復育、及生質能源利用等方面。草原作物及植物的開發與應用，為台灣大學農藝學系育種研究室草地實驗室致力研究的方向，研究目標在為本土農業有機化(Organic agriculture)、永續化(Sustainable agriculture)及生態化(Ecological agriculture)做出貢獻。本網站為本實驗室目前研究近況之摘要說明，並提供國內外相關研究及資訊等網路資源之連結。
本實驗室目前積極進行草原植物種原的收集，工作方向包括國外種源引種及本土植物採集，此一工作將持續進行。引種及採集所得的材料，將進行下列基本調查研究：
